We have found no opposition to this suggestion among either the Furopeans or Chinese, The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce met on Friday, January 7th, and passed an unanimous resolution in favour of the provision of facilities for free treatment, and for a onreful educational campaign; also registering their intention to support the Government in any such progressive policy.

We understand that the medical facilities provided in the Colan fall under two headings these that serve the European community, and those that serve the Chinese, Those that serve the Furopean community are based on the Government Civil Hospital. Those that arrve the Chinese are divided between the Tung Wah and the Kwong Wah Hospitals, and the eight Chinese Dispensaries, We have had an opportunity of meeting the Chinese governing bodies of these Insti tu tions, and believe that they will favour arrangements that will pro- vide free treatment facilities for the Chinese community.

We feel it is useless to consider dealing with the problem of venereal disease unless both the European and Chinese community are given equal facilities for treatment. The Chinese community being by far the most numerous and probably the most highly infected are therefore the most impor tant, In this report all recommendations dealing with the services which it is suggested should be rendered b the Government to the community include the population as a whole.

Diagnosis.

We recommend that the staff of the Pathological Department shou be sufficiantly extended to enable the same facilities to be given here as in Great Britain and elsewhere; that is free examination of all specimens sent in by medical practitioners with a recogni sed qualification as well as by ho spi tal s.
